Monthly Balance Tips - June

Hi everyone,
June is where things start to speed up.
There’s more light, more activity, more social time. People tend to feel better overall, and with that comes the urge to do more, stay out longer, and pack the days a little tighter.
This urge to simply do more is also where a lot of people quietly tip into imbalance without realizing it due to the seasonal influences.
A Quick Word About June
In Ayurveda, June marks the transition into summer, where Pitta qualities like heat, intensity, and sharpness begin to rise. After months of building and then clearing, the body is now more open, more active, and more sensitive to heat. Digestion is still relatively strong, but it can become irritated if we’re not paying attention. The focus this time of year shifts from lightening to cooling, moderating, and pacing.

What's Happening
As temperatures rise, so does internal heat. People often notice:
Feeling warmer than usual or easily overheated
Increased hunger or, at times, sudden drops in appetite
Irritability or impatience showing up more quickly
Sensitivity to spicy, fried, or heavy foods
Wanting cold foods and drinks more often
This is the beginning of Pitta season, and it tends to build gradually. If ignored, it can lead to burnout, inflammation, or digestive discomfort later in the summer. Ayurveda doesn’t try to fight the heat…it works to balance it.

Things Worth Noticing
Instead of pushing through, it may help to notice:
Are you getting overheated during the day?
Are you eating in a way that feels cooling or aggravating?
Are you scheduling more than your energy can comfortably handle?
Summer energy can feel strong, but it still needs pacing.

One Simple Shift for June
June is a good time to cool things down slightly - not ice-cold everything...not drastic changes...Just small adjustments:
Favoring fresh, seasonal foods
Adding more hydrating meals like fruits and lightly cooked vegetables
Reducing overly spicy, fried, or heavy foods
Being mindful of midday heat - if possible, shift movement to earlier or later in the day when it’s cooler.

Something to Sit With
Instead of asking,
“How much can I get done?”
Try asking:
“What keeps me steady as things speed up?”
Summer isn’t just about energy — it’s about managing it well.

What's Coming
July tends to bring peak heat, where cooling and hydration become even more important. I’ll be sharing more about working with that intensity without feeling drained or irritable.
For now, a little moderation goes a long way.
Warmly,
Sandra
