One of the most powerful ways to balance “up top” is simple. Rest.

Real rest. Intentional rest. The kind that keeps your brain sharp and your body resilient.

I like to divide rest into three parts: resting your brain during the day, sleeping well at night, and taking a weekly rest day.

Rest Your Brain

Your brain is not designed to run nonstop.

Short breaks during the day actually improve productivity, reduce stress, and boost creativity. Step away. Take a walk. Practice deep breathing. Meditate for five minutes. Even a quiet cup of tea without scrolling counts, so indulge yourself.

When you pause, you recharge... and a recharged brain works better.

Nightly Rest

Sleep is not optional maintenance. It is essential repair.

Prioritizing quality sleep strengthens your immune system, supports a healthy weight, improves mood, lowers stress, and reduces the risk of chronic issues like heart disease and diabetes.

Creating a simple evening routine helps you get the z's you need. Consistency regulates your internal clock, making it easier to fall asleep and wake up refreshed. Predictability calms the nervous system and structure supports both mental and physical health.

In other words, don't think a reasonable bedtime routine is boring - it is powerful.

Weekly Rest

Professional athletes schedule rest days so their muscles can rebuild after strain. Your body and brain deserve the same respect.

A weekly rest day after a hard work week allows physical recovery and mental reset. It prevents burnout, lowers injury risk, sharpens focus, and restores creativity.

Rest is not laziness. It is strategy.

When you return to your weekday demands after true rest, you are more efficient, more creative, and far less stressed. Balance up top begins with honoring your need to pause.

Small rests. Better results. That is smart self-care.
